ABOUT OUR GENTLEMAN'S INSTITUTE©

The members of the Lakeland Hawks basketball organization recognize that there is more to life than sports.  While we sincerely believe that sports plays a key role in the development of our young men, we also understand the need to focus on the total person.  Our Gentleman's Institute© serves to teach young men to be gentlemen and to respect themselves and others.

Our Gentleman's Institute© is a week-long program designed to address the basic necessities that every young man should practice. The program will run from 7:30am to 5pm each day and will teach our young men about respect, integrity, manners, work ethic and more.  The curriculum is based on the book 50 Things Every Young Gentleman Should Know by John Bridges.  Some things young men will learn include:

  • How to tie a tie and how to iron
  • How to accept/reject a gift
  • Proper dining etiquette (including proper table conversation)
  • Proper grooming and hygiene
  • Talking on the telephone
  • How to properly write a thank-you note
  • Much more

During the Institute each participant will receive:

  • Breakfast, lunch and snack each day
  • The Book:  50 Things Every Young Gentleman Should Know
  • A Gentleman's Institute T-Shirt
  • Lightweight backpack with goodies & information
  • A tie
  • Tip Table Card
  • Training Workbook
  • Fine Dining Experience with faculty family and friends a local Country Club
